**About the opportunity**
You will undertake applied research on a project that seeks to establish a ‘CO2 foundry’, encompassing the electrochemical conversion of CO2 into a C2 intermediate, followed by the bioconversion of the intermediate into value-added platform chemicals and biopolymers, using engineered microbes. You will work in a multidisciplinary team of electrochemists, nanotechnologists, chemical engineers, and synthetic biologists, where you will be responsible for the microbial strain

**About you**
To be considered for this opportunity, you will demonstrate:

- PhD in metabolic engineering, synthetic biology, biotechnology, or related discipline
- Strong experience in microbial strain engineering, including stat-of-the-art cloning techniques
- Experience in fermentation optimisation (desired, but not essential)
- Experience in metabolic modelling (desired, but not essential)
- Experience in analytical chemistry and/or separation chemistry techniques (HPLC, LC-MS, GC-MS)
- Ability to undertake and publish high quality and impactful research
- Ability to write and publish manuscripts in high-impact international journals
- Highly developed research, analytical and problem-solving skills
