**The Role**
An ASD4/5 Data Officer is responsible for the management and the day-to-day operations of Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) data systems ensuring accuracy, quality and compliance with policy. They will maintain a well-developed understanding of ASD’s mission and policy requirements. They will undertake research and perform data management functions to achieve results. They will be required to engage and communicate with stakeholders to identify, respond, and collaborate on issues to achieve desired outcomes.

An ASD4/5 Data Officer will use programming languages and tools in their day to day work to manage data and information. They will analyse information structures and ensure that data is appropriately stored and archived, in line with relevant compliance considerations.

ASD4 Level

An ASD4 Data Officer will be accountable for organising their workflow, making decisions within their defined parameters relating to area of responsibility and will seek guidance when required. They may exercise some discretion with respect to how legislation, procedures and guidelines are interpreted and applied to their work.

The ASD4 Data Officer will be required to share information, monitor work practices, set work priorities and develop local procedures. They may supervise and provide leadership to a team, providing coaching and on-the-job training for newer and less experienced team members.

The ASD4 Data Officer may be required to communicate with, respond and provide advice to a range of stakeholders on moderately complex operational and administrative issues to achieve work unit and the Australian Signals Directorate outcomes. They will be accountable to contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development.

ASD5 Level

An ASD5 Data Officer will be accountable for organising their workflow and making independent decisions relating to their area of responsibility. They will interpret and provide advice within the data function area based on legislation, policy and procedures.

The ASD5 Data Officer may coordinate and contribute to the work of a team consistent to a work plan and provide advice and assistance on methods of task completion to team members. They may be a team coach or supervise a team and be accountable to set work priorities, allocate work, and manage workflows and performance. They are expected to be capable of reviewing and developing the quality of work undertaken by others and identifying opportunities for on-the-job training within a work unit.

The ASD5 Data Officer will be required to engage and communicate with stakeholders to identify, respond and provide advice on issues to achieve work unit and the Australian Signals Directorate outcomes. They will be accountable to contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development.

**About our Team**
Mission Data (MD) Division within ASD is responsible for providing the foundational data capabilities to support all of ASD's functions. We do this via the provision of data platforms and services, management of ASD's mission data, and providing complex analytic development and support, including Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning capabilities. All roles within MD require extensive knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence's mission and policy requirements.
