**What you'll be doing**

Provide contemporary comprehensive Specialist Endocrinology services at the primary facility and other facilities where applicable for optimal patient outcomes delivering a healthy community through quality care.

Provide clinical leadership, participate in quality improvement activities and provide training and education to clinicians across multiple disciplines to achieve quality education and safe clinical practice.

Provide expert care for inpatients and outpatients relating not only to diabetes, but to other conditions of the endocrine system including Outpatient Services as multidisciplinary clinics for diabetes (including gestational diabetes), high risk foot clinic and re-fracture clinic.

**Where you will be working**

**The Tweed Hospital** provides a range of healthcare services to the public. As a regional referral Level 5 base hospital, we work closely with hospitals in Northern NSW and tertiary hospitals in Southern Queensland to support the healthcare needs of our community. Murwillumbah District Hospital and Byron Central Hospital are local community hospitals providing a range of services

The Tweed Valley is a subtropical oasis encompassing the rugged terrain of Wollumbin National Park, arty riverside villages, historic coastal towns and the gateway to the Gold Coast. The Byron Shire includes some of Australia’s most famous surf breaks and holiday destinations, while the hinterland is rich with vibrant communities and mouth-watering local produce.

The NSW Government is investing 723.3 million in health for the Tweed Valley to deliver a new state-of-the-art facility with more beds and increased healthcare services, along with interim upgrades at The Tweed Hospital. On track to open in late 2023, The Tweed Valley Hospital will be a major referral hospital at the heart of the network of hospitals and health facilities across the Tweed-Byron region. It will provide the health services required to meet the needs of the growing population of the region beyond 2032.

**Selection Criteria**
- Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Endocrinologist and/or overseas trained specialist pathways.
- Demonstrated recent clinical experience in Endocrinology at the role delineation of the service.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a team.
- Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement.
- Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time.
