About the role

We are seeking a values-driven and proactive Program Support Worker to work in a team to support people who approach the Salvation Army in line with the No Wrong Door policy. The Program Support Worker will help to create a safe space for the people seeking services in line with Trauma Informed Care principles.

Reporting to the Community Programs Facilitator, this is a permanent, part-time (30.4 hours per week position based in Surry Hills and Waterloo, NSW. Salary and conditions are in accordance with SCHADS Level 3.

You will successfully- Support the Community Programs Facilitator to engage with clients within the Trauma Informed Framework and participate in the Intake and Assessment process.- Support clients to encourage self-determination and participation and support them to improve their situation.- Help clients to implement case plans.- Acquire and maintain a good working knowledge of local support options for people within the The Salvation Army network and external agencies and work collaboratively and professionally with other agencies as appropriate and required.- Identify service gaps and risks and make recommendations for service delivery improvements to the Community Programs facilitator.

You will have- Tertiary qualifications in relevant area - Minimum Certificate III in Community Services or extensive experience within the industry.- NSW Employee Working with Children’s Check.- Mental health first aid training (preferred).- Food Handling Course (or willingness to obtain one).- Current valid driver’s licence (preferred).- Experience working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and religions.- Previous experience working in a community service setting (desirable).- Understanding of Trauma informed Care Framework- Good oral and written communication skills.
