About the Role
- Abstract and correctly assign ICD-10-AM clinical codes using the 3M Encoder software to all inpatient hospital discharges according to the Australian Coding Standards published by the National Centre for Classification in Health within specified timeframes, to meet Hospital Queensland Health deadlines.
- Data entry of all coded morbidity data into HBCIS and the registration of all relevant malignant neoplasms and other conditions as required by the Queensland Cancer Registry.
- Clarification of inconsistent, ambiguous, or non-specific clinical information contained within medical records by consultation with the responsible Medical Officer while ensuring the efficient and timely completion of clinical classification to meet Hospital and State requirements.
- Actively participate in the departmental auditing process whereby coded records are reviewed by the Clinical Coding Quality Coordinator or other Queensland Health agencies for accuracy.
