Position Summary

The Junior Sommelier is a passionate individual, specializing in wine service. The individual advises and guides the guests in their choice of wines, and food and wine pairing to enhance dining experience. The Sommelier provides and manage a comprehensive wine and beverage list, sourcing products in line with our brand commitments and budget, providing internal and external trainings for colleagues.

The Role

Communicates expectations, recognises performance, and produces consistent desired business results.
Be an exemplary role model in inspiriting team members through strong demonstration of the Capella Culture and Service Philosophy.
Provides wine suggestions and food-wine pairing to enhance guests' dining experience.
Be the champion in offering wine knowledge to both guests and colleagues.
Coordinate tasks and work with other departments to ensure that the department runs efficiently.
Enforces and proposes creation to improve the services and ensures the good maintenance of the ratio drinks of the department.
Responsible for the service of wines, mineral water and brandies Beverage in the respect of the standards and high expectation of the guests.
Secure liquors, beers, wines, coolers, cabinets, and storage areas.
Complete bottle transfer slips and distribute accurately.
Handling complaints and resolving service 'Glitches', keep a record of all feedbacks under the appropriate system. Ensures that the issues are resolved in a timely manner to guests' satisfaction.
Recognizes the importance of LQA and Forbes standards as to deliver excellent audit and service performance.
Responsible for maintaining inventory supplies of wine, ensures that all supplies are properly stored at the right temperature, preventing wastage due to pilferage and poor inventory management.
Working with the outlet managers and conduct monthly stock take, reporting to the Finance department.
Assist the Chief Culturist to create rituals and moments for our guests in the Living Room.
Assists in shift coverage when required to ensure smooth operation.

Talent Profile

Diploma/ Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, specializing in beverage service/restaurant management is of advantage.
WSET certification is of advantage
Experiences in similar role at luxury hotels/resort or renowned venues
Working alcohol service knowledge (i.e. wine service)
Good command of written and spoken English
Competent computing skills
