**About the opportunity**

Are you an experienced Turf Manager that wants to get back to traditional, grassroots greenkeeping? Are you ready for a challenge? Do you want to improve community sports turf surfaces for our future sporting champions? If so then this is the position for you.

At Blacktown, we are dedicated to providing quality sports field turf surfaces for the local community. With 165 individual sporting fields and the expected construction of over 20 new sporting fields within the City over the next 10 years, this is an opportunity that cannot be missed.

We are seeking 2 highly motivated, appropriately qualified, and experienced people to lead and work within a small team to provide specialized sports turf maintenance.

Duties will include all aspects of turf maintenance (renovation practices/irrigation monitoring/pest programs), line marking, seasonal changeover, works programming, reporting all hazards, and the effective and safe usage of equipment.

**Qualifications and experience**

Essential:

- Tertiary qualifications in Horticulture (Turf), Sports Turf Management or a related area and/or extensive experience in these areas of operations
- Class MR driver’s licence
- Staff supervision experience/demonstrable extensive experience and knowledge of high-standard sporting field preparation, synthetic surface maintenance and other areas including common reserves and landscaping.
Desirable:

- Experience in the maintenance and preparation of sports fields, turf wickets, Softball and Baseball diamonds and synthetic surfaces
- Chainsaw operation certificate of competence
- Current Chemical Application accreditation AQF4 or equivalent
- Senior First Aid certificate.

**Remuneration and benefits**
- The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.
Entry level for this position starts at $1,342.43 per week
- 38 hour working week
- Rostered Day Off (RDO) every fortnight
- Employee benefits such as leave entitlements (where applicable), 10.5% employer contribution payable to your nominated superannuation fund, Fitness Passport, and gym membership discounts, and social clubs.
