**About the role**:
The EL1 Assistant Director will provide specialist co-design knowledge and expertise on new and innovative approaches for engaging with people with disability and other stakeholders. This includes designing, implementing, and evaluating targeted and proactive co-design strategies.

**Duties**
- Developing plans and co-design strategies that require a detailed analysis of diverse research, data and views.
- Preparing reports, briefing papers, Ministerial correspondence, and discussion papers for review by Senior Executives.
- Providing specialist advice and support to the Director to deliver co-design activities.
- Supporting the delivery of co-design activities including the design, planning, delivery, outcomes tracking and evaluation of each activity. Collaborating with key internal and external stakeholders to improve the way we capture and analyse co-design data and insights to inform decision-making.

**Required experience/skills**
- Strategic Stakeholder Management skills, maintaining close working relationships with key national representative and peak bodies.
- Understanding of the Disability Advocacy sector and ability to represent the department in stakeholder interactions.
- Ability to identify and mitigate reputational risks associated with communication, engagement, and business activities. Ability to lead a team to deliver timely, innovative, efficient, and evidence-based advice on inclusive engagement practices, strategies and actions that align with Corporate Plan objectives.

**Desirable experience/skills**
- Ability to manage the ongoing implementation and governance arrangements of inclusive strategies.
- Ability to design, implement, and evaluate targeted and proactive engagement strategies.
- Experience preparing reports, briefing papers, etc. for senior executives and government officials including the Minister’s Office. Experience in the disability sector and engaging with government.
