Lead - Environmental Monitoring

**Your new company**
Our client is currently seeking suitable applicants for the position of Environmental Monitoring Lead. Reporting to the Senior Environmental advisor, you will be an integral part of the Environmental team as a whole and be responsible for the dedicated team tasked with aspects of environmental monitoring. This role is residentially based in Mount Isa and works a 5/2, 4/3 roster (9-day fortnight), promoting a healthy work-life balance.

**Your new role**
- Leading, developing and utilising team members by establishing clear expectations, managing personal performance and accountability in a supportive framework
- Provision of a safe working environment through compliance to HSEC policies and procedures
- Scheduling and ensuring completion of environmental monitoring in a safe and efficient manner including the collection of surface water, groundwater, soil and dust samples in accordance with business needs, internal guidelines and statutory requirements
- Establishing and project managing environmental monitoring programs to be undertaken by third parties
- Participating in field monitoring programs
- Maintaining environmental monitoring documentation
- Administration of the environmental monitoring data system including validating data, tracking exceedances, undertaking routine analysis and reporting of data
- Developing and maintaining rigorous QAQC standards for sampling programs and techniques to ensure validity of data
- Facilitating the maintenance of monitoring equipment such as groundwater pumps and monitoring equipment
- Liaising with stakeholders for day-to-days tasks
- Carrying out procurement activities

**What you'll need to succeed**
- Tertiary qualifications in the field of Environmental Science / Environmental Management
- Relevant demonstrated experience of at least 3 years working in mining or heavy industry is preferable
- Relevant demonstrated experience of at least 1 year working in a leadership or supervisor position
- A strong safety focus and experience with hazard identification and risk control
- Experience in leading or mentoring a team
- Competency using the Microsoft Office suites
