About the Portfolio

The Education Portfolio leads the planning and implementation of the University’s strategies related to RMIT’s academic programs and the student experience.

The Portfolio is responsible for:

- Development and implementation of the Education Plan in accordance with University strategy as it relates to best practice in learning and teaching, student experience and academic staffing
- Oversight of quality assurance for RMIT programs and their contribution to the development of improved outcomes for students and partners
- Development and implementation of policy relating to academic profile and its impact on academic programs and staff
- Leadership and management of relevant projects deemed as priorities in the RMIT Strategic Plan and University Annual Operating Plan
- Provision of learning resources through the RMIT University Library
- Identifying and planning for administrative and support services to meet the needs of different student cohorts, on and offshore, across the student life cycle
- Promoting access to Vocational Education and Higher Education by students from diverse backgrounds and targeted equity groups
- Developing and maintaining systems, processes and procedures related to the student record.

About the role

The Associate Director, Office of the DVC Education provides leadership and strategic advice for the Portfolio’s operations in a way that delivers business outcomes by ensuring the delivery of key Portfolio and Enterprise targets and objectives.

A key focus is the management and delivery of the Education Plan and its strategic impact on Lifelong Learning. In this role you will be working closely with the Executive Leadership Team and ensure that the Deputy Vice-Chancellor - Education (DVCE) is well supported and prepared, to enable focus on the highest-level priorities by providing high level advice and support in relation to operational, planning and resource matters and is the portfolio lead in problem and issue resolution.

The position represents the Education Portfolio at select forums / committees and plays a key role in advocating on behalf of the Portfolio and ensuring a focus on business and student experience outcomes. In collaboration with the Portfolio’s Executive, the incumbent supports the management and review of the Portfolio’s services and operations, ensuring adherence to and implementation of policy and procedures.

To be successful in this position you will ideally have:
- Experience in developing and implementing strategic initiatives. Ensuring that initiatives are appropriately sequenced, resourced, funded, measured and risks managed.- Exceptional influencing and relationship-building skills, including evidence of the capacity to engage stakeholders to drive strategic outcomes and positive change within a complex organisational setting.- Excellent influencing and relationship skills with prior experience partnering with Senior Executives to lead programs of work.- Significant leadership skills, including the capability to initiate, lead and manage change in a dynamic environment.- Experience with leading and managing teams; including successfully achieving business goals by effectively coordinating the integration of resources, processes, systems, people and policies.- Relevant tertiary qualification and/or extensive demonstrated experience in a complex operations leadership role at a senior management level.- Experience in dealing with multi-site locations is highly advantageous.
