**What does your daily life look like at Yancoal?**:
As the Health and Safety Governance Specialist you are responsible to contribute to the corporate HST team purpose of providing governance in WHS management by maintaining compliance to system standards of the Yancoal safety management system and verifying the effectiveness of the whole of business HSMS through monitoring, evaluation, reporting and revision.

Your responsibilities include:

- Development, implementation, verification, review and revision of group standards, framework and guidelines of health and safety process to maintain compliance to relevant legislation;
- Manage the corporate office health safety management system;
- Assisting with the periodic review and update of Corporate health and safety procedures, standards and guidelines;
- Assist in developing internal training schemes and seminars;
- Assist facilitation of independent site incident investigations
- Prepare papers for internal company reporting
- Maintain a working knowledge of the various WHS legislation in the jurisdictions of operations;
- Monitor site practices to ensure that duty holders are meeting the requirements under the legislation.
- Develop and coach in effective leadership practices.

**What do you need to be successful in the role?**:
To be successful in the role you will require the following skills:
**Qualifications**:

- Tertiary qualification in OHS management or equivalent. Certificate of competence for a statutory position in NSW, WA or Qld is desirable.

**Skills & Knowledge**:

- Moderate computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, Incident Management Software, Intelex); working knowledge of legislation.

**Experience**:

- Minimum 5 years total mining site based operational experience in health and safety management either within a HST team or compliance/statutory role with minimum 2 years at a superintendent or higher level
