**Position**: APS6 Work Health & Safety Advisor

**Location**: Newcastle, NSW

**Salary**: $60.26/hourly (excluding super)

**Duration**: 12-month contract with possibility of extension

Our client, a prominent government agency, is seeking a highly skilled Work Health & Safety Advisor to provide technical, professional, policy, operational support and advice in relation to complex problems.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide technical work health and safety advice to support the business functions of the work health and safety team
- Implement the work health and safety management system for the agency, including developing and implementing policies, procedures, and learning and development materials
- Manage and provide advice on incident responses, including coordinating incident investigations
- Undertake and/or review hazard and risk assessments and coordinate the development and maintenance of the agency's work health and safety risk register and hazard inspection schedule
- Support a safety culture in the agency by sharing expertise, providing guidance to colleagues, and developing work health and safety communications
- Prepare briefs, reports, meeting papers and other materials related to managing work health and safety in the agency
- Provide work health and safety advice on complex and sensitive staffing matters where necessary

**Requirements**:

- Relevant qualifications in work health and safety or related fields
- Experience in corporate level work health and safety operations
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels using appropriate oral and written format
- Ability to provide work health and safety advice and assistance, including providing information relating to how individuals can comply with legislation
