**About the Role**:
This is a Casual role as a Certified / Certified Provisional Interpreter within the RCH Interpreting Services department. This role is responsible for providing a high standard of Interpreting for RCH staff, patients, and their families to ensure Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) patients understand any investigations, treatment, and other information essential to their health care.

Casual interpreter staff will be rostered a range of hours (minimum engagement 3 hrs) based on the needs of the Interpreter Service Department.

**What you'll achieve**:
In this role you will provide interpreting services to RCH staff patients and their families.

Your duties will include:

- Interpret in NAATI certified language for RCH patients and their families
- Translate brief messages (non-clinical) and/or check translations if required
- Create a safe cultural space for RCH patients and their families receiving care, so that they can communicate naturally about their health and wellbeing
- Contribute to a high performing team of interpreters.
- Collect data for bookings and enter statistics accurately and in a timely way
- Provide administrative assistance to support the team as requested
- Participate in own professional development activities
- Contribute to improving the safety and quality of services for patients and their families with a CALD background at the RCH.

**About you**

To be successful within this role you will need to have:

- Appropriate Tertiary Qualification /NAATI Interpreter certification (previously Level 3). Alternatively, Provisional Interpreter Certification level (previously Level 2) if appropriate for that language.
- Demonstrated adherence to the AUSIT Code of Ethics.
- High level of computer literacy and skills for electronic medical records, search engines, data collect systems and platforms, telehealth, video conferencing, and Microsoft office 365
- Demonstrated experience in health interpreting and understanding of health contexts.
- Experience with working in a health setting is highly desirable
- Skill in interpreting in an additional language is highly desirable.

Classification for this position will range from AO21 - AO25 ($33.79-$37.35 per hour, plus casual loading and superannuation)
