Poultry Breeder Manager

**Company**
Our client is a rapidly growing producer and marketer of high-quality gourmet poultry with exciting plans to expand their offering from high end food service into retail lines. The company’s products are marketed both domestically and overseas.

**Role**
The role is to manage a small scale breeding operation, including a hatchery, and have oversight on the growing bird operation managing a close-knit team with full responsibility for the husbandry of the birds and the day-to-day operations of the farm. This role will be accountable for the achievement of production standards, staff training and supervision, and ensuring compliance with strict biosecurity and health and safety guidelines.

**Responsibilities**
- Oversee the daily operations of the farm with responsibility for achieving production standards and ensuring welfare standards
- Lead, coach and develop the team to ensure they have the capability to meet the performance goals
- Drive a strong safety culture and corrective and preventative safety programmes with a focus on behavioural safety
- Oversee all farm maintenance work and engage with contractors for repairs as required
- Manage, monitor and keep within budget, seeking approval for out-of-scope spend
- Identify, drive and embed continuous improvement initiatives and operational efficiency programmes

**Requirements**:

- Previous hands-on experience in poultry breeding/ breeder management / hatchery management
- Experience in leading, coaching and motivating a team
- A good understanding of farming methods, a commitment to animal welfare and an interest in, and understanding of, the ways in which farming impacts the environment
- Project assistance - Implementation and understanding of automation and the management of farm upgrades
- Ability to work outside in all weathers and undertake hands-on jobs as well as attending to office duties
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in the use of the Microsoft suite
- High attention to detail and demonstrated ability to plan, prioritise and organize work demands and meet tight deadlines
- Demonstrated understanding and exposure to both biosecurity and animal welfare principles

Coominya, approximately one hour west of Brisbane CBD.
