About the role

An exciting and dynamic role working as part of a supportive and innovative team who are passionate about diversity and inclusion. The LGBTIQ+ Liaison Officer provides support to Eastern Health patients who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex or Queer/Questioning, Asexual, Non-Binary, Gender Diverse and/or Pansexual (LGBTIQ+) and their families and carers, in a safe and respectful manner, fostering an environment of inclusion and acceptance.

The LGBTIQ+ Liaison Officer has a leading role in improving the identification of LGBTIQ+ patients and ensuring excellence in patient care for patients who identify as LGBTIQ+ through individual patient liaison and support as well as support for clinical teams to develop safe and welcoming environments. The LGBTIQ+ Liaison Officer will work to address barriers that prevent people who identify as LGBTIQ+ from accessing services.

About you

**To be successful in this role you will possess**:
Clinical qualification and registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, or, if a non-registered profession, eligibility for membership of professional association, where relevant.

Strong understanding of and connections to the LGBTIQ+ community

Specialist knowledge in LGBTIQ+ health

Demonstrated clinical experience in acute and subacute services and in multi-disciplinary models of care

Demonstrated ability to establish effective and appropriate therapeutic relationships with clients and families

Knowledge of relevant legislation, policy directions, strategic documents and service issues

Highly developed written, verbal and non-verbal communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to negotiate and consult widely at all levels of the organisation

Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as effectively within teams

Ability to develop relationships with external service providers

High level skills in Microsoft Office suite of programs

Post-graduate qualifications in an appropriate field (highly desirable).

Current Victorian Driver’s License.

Applicants with LGBTIQ+ lived experience will be highly regarded, particularly those with experience or understanding of intersectional identities including Disability, Aboriginal and CALD people who identify as LGBTIQ+.

Vaccination against infectious disease is a mandatory requirement of this role. An offer of employment is conditional on you providing evidence that you are currently vaccinated against COVID-19 with booster & Influenza, prior to commencing employment.
