**The Role**
The Sustainment Manager will require the knowledge and experience necessary to project manage assigned acquisitions, introduce equipment into service and through life sustainment of select Special Operations capabilities in accordance with the One Defence Capability Life Cycle.
This position will require detailed understanding of the Commonwealth Procurement Rules and the ability to interpret Army and Special Operations Command policy and procedures. It will require a comprehensive knowledge of the Army’s Sustainment Planning Cycle and will support the management of capabilities across three Army Product Schedules.
This position has personnel management responsibilities; as such you will be required to exercise your leadership and management skills to lead a high performing team responsible for the sustainment of Special Operations capabilities.
You will work collaboratively as part of the broader Defence team and be expected to confidently and articulately represent the interests of Special Operations Command within the broader Defence environment.
**About our Team**
Special Operations Command has an opportunity to join an integrated team of APS, Military and Contracting staff as a Sustainment Manager. This diverse workforce uses Defence’s policies, procedures and resources to support the modernisation of equipment, information systems and estate employed by Special Operations Command.
This role will contribute to the Command’s modernisation program and ensure it delivers capability designed to contribute to joint effects. It ensures Special Operations capabilities are sustained and modernised in accordance with the One Defence Capability Life Cycle.
This team will support Special Operations Command’s ability to be agile and adaptive in the rapidly changing technological environment through the provision of specialists capable of acquiring, certifying and sustaining designated Special Operations capabilities.
Through a modernisation led approach, this role will ensure that capabilities are aligned to strategic priorities and the Special Operations Command’s modernisation and innovation agenda.
- Be able to work in an operationally focused, high tempo organisation with the ability to independently prioritise, assign and evaluate workloads.
- Have, or demonstrate the ability to acquire, experience with Defence’s Capability Life Cycle, Defence Procurement Guidelines and capability delivery, including knowledge and expertise to plan, control and coordinate the acquisition, and through life sustainment of equipment inclusive of the full range of acquisition and sustainment documentation.
- Be a clear and concise communicator with the ability to effectively engage and support executives, staff and external stakeholders at all levels, and represent the organisation at forums as required.
- Have demonstrated public service leadership skills, professionalism and probity.
