**Overview - The Women's and Children's Health Network**

The Women's and Children's Health Network provides state of the art health care for women and children in Adelaide and South Australia.

We are the state’s leading provider of specialist care for children with acute and chronic conditions and SA’s largest maternity and obstetric service. We also provide important community-based services, of which the Child and Family Health Service is an integral part.

**Child and Family Health Service**

The Child and Family Health Service (CaFHS) is a free statewide service that supports parents and families of children from birth to five years of age, who live across metropolitan, regional and rural areas in South Australia.

With over 100 clinics across South Australia, CaFHS helps parents and families to understand their child’s health, development, and wellbeing needs, which can include breastfeeding, sleeping, settling, introducing solids, parenting and play and development. Each year, CaFHS provides over 75,000 family consultations via in clinic or at home appointments, telehealth (phone) or virtually.

South Australia records approximately 20,000 births each year and CaFHS offers an in home initial 4 health and development check at 1 to 4 weeks of age, to support the infant and family’s health, wellbeing and development. Further health and development checks are offered at 6-8 weeks, 6-9 months, 18-24 months, 3 years and 4 to 5 years. For children with ongoing or complex needs, CaFHS can refer families to other healthcare and community service supports.

We currently have two exciting opportunities to join the Team as **Aboriginal Cultural Child and Family Support Consultant,** in two beautiful regional locations of Kadina (on the York Peninsula) and Port Pirie in the mid North.

As Aboriginal Cultural Child and Family Support Consultant you will work within a team setting to provide responsive and flexible child focused and family centred, home and community based support services to Aboriginal families with children up to five years of age.

The Aboriginal Cultural Child and Family Support Consultant contributes to improving the health, development and well-being outcomes for Aboriginal children and families by providing culturally appropriate parenting support, and supporting families to engage with health services within both CaFHS and the broader community, and through the provision of Aboriginal cultural consultancy and advice to team members

To be successful in this role, you should have the proven ability to engage in a culturally sensitive manner with Aboriginal communities and to relate to and be accepted by Aboriginal families of diverse backgrounds and adopt a non-judgemental approach.
