**Role**:
The Leading Teacher ¿Transitions at Bemin Secondary College primary focus is to:
Lead and manage the key transition entry points into the College, in particular at both Year 7 and at Year 10

Co-lead and Work in collaboration with the Principal Team, Leading Teacher
- Careers & Pathways and Subschool Teams to devise and implement transition programs that support students starting at the College.

Establish relationships and data sharing protocols with local primary and P-9 feeder schools. This includes** leading the **coordinating Year 7 & 9 transition activities and promotion, including visits to primary and P-9 schools and relevant aspects of Information evenings.**

Form key community partnerships with external agencies and allied health professionals to support a smooth transition for students to high school

Contribute to the provision of high-level leadership and support for the achievement, wellbeing and engagement of all staff and students

Foster a positive learning climate and culture of high expectations, challenge and engagement

Work with the Principal and School Improvement Leadership teams to support teachers in quality instruction, curriculum planning, and implementation. This may involve coaching and mentoring.

Lead and facilitate opportunities for staff and students to connect with and contribute to the wider Bemin Secondary College community.

Be an active participant in the leading of learning and undertake a teaching commitment

Contribute to the overall management of the school

The Leading Teacher reports directly to the Principal.

The Leading Teacher role will commence in Term 3, 2024.

**Responsibilities**:
In recognition of the importance of leadership and management combined with exemplary teaching practice for improved student learning outcomes, the key roles of the leading teachers may include but are not limited to:
Leading and managing the implementation of whole-school improvement initiatives related to the school strategic plan and school priorities

Leading and managing the implementation of whole-school improvement strategies related to curriculum planning and delivery;
Leading and managing the provision of professional development and developing individual and team development plans for teaching staff within the priorities of the school;
Leading and managing staff performance and development (review of staff);
Teaching demonstration lessons;
Leading and managing the development of the school's assessment and reporting policies and practices;
Leading and managing the implementation of the school operations and policies related to student welfare and discipline;
Leading the development of curriculum in a major learning area and participating in curriculum development in other areas;
Responsibility for general discipline matters beyond the management of classroom teachers;
Contributing to the overall leadership and management of the school;
Contributing to the development of proposals for school council consideration; Developing and managing the school code of conduct.
