**Job Summary**

The National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre from the University of New South Wales are looking for **casual** **interviewers** based in Canberra to assist with conducting face-to-face interviews for the 2023 round of surveys for the Ecstasy and Related Drugs Reporting System (EDRS). The EDRS is a national monitoring study conducted annually in every capital city and aims to identify emerging trends of local and national interest in the markets for ecstasy and other stimulant drugs.

Interviewing experience is desirable, however, training on how to administer the questionnaire will be provided. For more information please see the attached position description.

Note: training is **compulsory **and will be held over zoom.

**Required Experience, Skills and Qualifications**

**KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Contribute to participant recruitment, screening, and data collection, the latter including interviewing participants who regularly use ecstasy and other stimulants
- Contribute to study management, including tracking participant recruitment, checking data quality, and uploading data.
- Cooperate with all health and safety policies and procedures of the university and take all reasonable care to ensure that your actions or omissions do not impact on the health and safety of yourself or others.
- Perform other duties as requested by the Supervisor.

**SELECTION CRITERIA**
- Degree in the behavioural, social sciences, epidemiology or equivalent;
- High-level organisational and time-management skills;
- Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills;
- Commitment to integrity and sensitivity in interacting with marginalised or at-risk populations and about sensitive issues;
- Demonstrated experience working with a high level of independence and in a team, and liaising with other agencies and professionals
- Previous experience interviewing participants (particularly on sensitive issues and/or illicit behaviours) would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.

The National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre (NDARC) was established at the University of New South Wales by the Commonwealth Government in 1986 to extend the knowledge base required for effective treatment of individuals with alcohol and other drug related problems and to enhance the overall research capacity in the drug and alcohol field. The Centre is highly regarded, both nationally and internationally, for its contribution to drug and alcohol research.

The Ecstasy and Related Drugs Reporting System (EDRS) aims to examine patterns of drug use, as well as identify emerging trends in the markets for drugs such as ecstasy, methamphetamine, cocaine, ketamine, GHB and LSD. To monitor these trends, 100 people who regularly use ecstasy and other stimulants are interviewed each year in every capital city of Australia.
