**About the Role**

You will directly contribute to the research efforts of UniSA STEM, in particular to the provision of agricultural engineering design, prototyping and performance evaluation activities underpinning research outputs related to the development of innovative machinery solutions, to enhance the outcomes of a variety of industry and government funded research projects. The Agricultural Machinery Research and Design Centre (AMRDC) is the oldest research group at the University of South Australia, with national and international recognition. Its research focus includes the development of improved engineering solutions for agriculture, particularly the cropping and food industries.

**Core Responsibilities**
- Conduct, under routine supervision, high quality research and development activities, including scoping, scheduling, implementing, tracking and reporting against key project milestones related to the development, construction and evaluation of innovative machinery solutions
- Design mechanical assemblies and conduct stress analyses as required, produce specialised manufacturing drawings, or sketches where suitable, to support high quality manufacturing standards and organise the construction to achieve fit-for-purpose outcomes
- Plan and undertake laboratory and field experimental work under routine supervision and guidance by senior research staff, including data sampling, compilation, analysis, interpretation and technical report writing
- Assist in the development of refereed academic journal publication outputs related to the research project activities undertaken, and where appropriate contribute to research extension activities including, participation at conferences and seminars
- Actively participate in planning and review meetings associated with research projects, and assume administrative duties, as may be required from time to time

**Essential Skills and Experience**
- A tertiary engineering qualification, with preference for master’s in engineering level or similar discipline
- Proven experience in the design of a wide range of mechanical assemblies with strong experience in 3D CAD design software such 3D SolidWorks® and SolidWorks® Simulation. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Significant experience in a research context with conducting experimental work, data sampling, analysis and interpretation
- Practical experience of cropping machinery operation and maintenance, including tractors and road vehicles and a strong understanding of agricultural cropping context and issues
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a research team
