**PURPOSE OF THE ROLE**:
The Obstetrics and Gynaecology Registrar is responsible for managing the care of all patients allocated to current department in consultation with the responsible Consultants, Visiting Specialists, Nurses and Allied Health professionals. The incumbent actively contributes to Continuous Quality Improvement activities and education activities.

**ESSENTIAL**:

- Registrable as a medical practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
- Previous experience as Obstetrics and Gynaecology registrar or equivalent.
- Ability to work within personal level of expertise and seek assistance as needed from senior staff.
- Ability to assist interns and residents to extend their clinical skills and knowledge.
- Maintaining a high standard of patient care for inpatients and outpatients, whether based on patient admission under their Unit or that of consultation by other units.
- Keeping high quality, readily accessible records of patient care.
- Appropriately escalating doubts or concerns to the attention of the Consultant immediately.
- Providing an effective and accurate clinical handover of patient care at the change of daily shifts and at the change of a clinical attachment.
- Will be responsible for the supervision of medical students and Interns as directed by the Consultants.
- Maintaining a work/life balance while adhering to rostering expectations.
- Managing difficult situations and people in times of stress.
- Ensuring good communication between health care professionals through accurate and objective written notes.

**WHAT YOU BRING**:
You will hold a Bachelor of Medicine or an equivalent qualification and be registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner. Demonstrating knowledge of contemporary medical practice and procedures appropriate to the level of the position. You will be competent in range of routine and common procedural ward-based skills, specifically in relation to obstetric management and assessment. You must have the ability to work both as a member of a team and individually. Along with high level skills in problem solving and decision making, you will bring the ability to communicate confidently and appropriately with patients and their families.

**THE HOSPITAL**:
This hospital is the health services largest facility, which provides a range of health services including accident and emergency, acute inpatient, elective surgery, emergency surgery, birthing, paediatric and mental health services, and associated clinical support.

Services include an Emergency Department, 25 bed Medical Unit, 27 bed Surgical Unit, 6 bed High Dependency Unit, 20 bed Maternity Unit with 3 delivery suites and a 6 bed Paediatric Unit. Co-located at the Hospital site are a 20 bed Private Hospital, Consulting Rooms for Visiting Specialists, South East Regional Community Health Service, South East Dental Services, South East Mental Health Services, Aboriginal Health Service, Drug and Alcohol Services, a Renal Dialysis Service and a Palliative Care Service.
