**ABOUT THE ROLE**

The Advisor Vessel Safety will be responsible for providing high-level technical maritime advice to support and contribute to AMSA’s safety goals, objectives, and challenges.

**SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE**

To be successful in this position, you will have the following skills and experience:

- Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team and effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong judgment with the ability to resolve complex issues and consistently deliver high-quality results within deadlines.
- Demonstrated expertise in delivering projects through effective planning, coordination, and control methods.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand complex concepts and develop well-considered options.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to various audiences.
- Understanding of, or ability to quickly gain an understanding of, maritime policy, regulatory frameworks, and related standards.

The following skills and experience are not pre-requisites, but would be considered an advantage:

- Significant relevant experience in a regulatory or industry role, preferably in Australia.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications (or equivalent) involving law, regulation, maritime or engineering disciplines.
