**About the role**

We’re looking for an energetic and driven Operations professional who is ready to challenge themselves in the world of major events, in one of Australia’s most iconic multipurpose Venue’s, John Cain Arena. All whilst working alongside some of Australia’s most experienced venue teams in a precinct built on its People.

The Operations Leader is responsible for coordinating, supporting, and contributing to the overall delivery of all events within John Cain Arena and the wider precinct as required. You will wo rk in partnership with the Operations Manager whilst working collaboratively with the wider venue team, to plan and deliver each event putting the team, client and customer experience at the forefront of everything you do.

The Operations Leader is responsible for the delivery of multiple functions within the back of house environment which includes leading a team of motivated Operations Supervisors, leading relationships with international and domestic sport and entertainment clients and being a leader in operational excellence, safety and risk mitigation.

The Operations Leader will also have a privileged opportunity to lead and develop a team of Operations Supervisors shaping their careers whilst empowering them to lead casual workforces across all our events and day to day operations within the venue.

**If you had worked with us over the last little while, here’s some of the things you would have been doing**:

- Worked closely with our NBL and Super Netball tenant Clubs delivering international and domestic elite sporting events to our customers and large broadcast audiences
- Lead relationships with international and domestic touring promotors to plan and deliver iconic entertainment shows which include Victorian State Schools Spectacular, Harlem Globetrotters, Liam Gallagher, Flume and Glass Animals.
- Assisted in bringing to life new initiatives and capital works projects that enhance the client and customer experience at John Cain Arena
- Participated and contributed to wider business strategic and event projects for such as FIFA Women’s World Cup and the Australian Open.

**What you will bring to the role**
- A demonstrated ability to participate and contribute to a people first team culture that promotes excellence in operations and safety.
- Familiarity with event planning and delivery experience within an arena, major stadium, mixed entertainment environment or similar operational environment.
- An emphasis to attention to detail which is supported by your proficiency to manage administrational tasks in Microsoft Office, event management and workforce software platforms
- Demonstrated planning and organisational skills that allows the ability to lead and empower People in a dynamic but rewarding environment
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, often competing, demands/tasks effectively, remaining calm in high pressure situations
- Experience of establishing constructive and effective working relationships with multiple stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience in leading and advocating a safe working environment built on risk mitigation
- Ability to effectively handle and resolve customer (client and guest) requirements
- Flexibility to work weekends and out of business hours shifts.

**Desirable**
- A passion for venue, leadership, sport, event, or operations management and a demonstration of ongoing development in these areas
- Experience with reading and deciphering complex CAD plans and rigging plots
- Willing to obtain certifications and licenses appropriate to the role including CI, Working at Heights, EWP, Forklift License, Dogging and Rigging (Basic), OH&S, Chief/Fire Warden
