**ABOUT THE ROLE**
The Certification Officer (Seafarer) role contributes to the management of international and domestic seafarer certificates of competency, in line with national legislation and international standards.
As part of a geographically dispersed team, the Certification Officer (Seafarer) will use their strong analytical skills to underpin decision making in relation to the issuance of seafarer qualifications. With well-developed communication skills, you will also engage with a broad range of maritime industry stakeholders to develop effective engagement across industry.
At AMSA we provide a supportive, collaborative and flexible working environment. This role can be undertaken on a hybrid basis, working within an AMSA office and WFH.
**SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE**
To be successful in this position, you will have the following skills and experience:
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand complex concepts and develop well-considered options, based on evidence.
- Proven ability to support legislatively based decision making in a government context is highly desired.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to various stakeholder audiences.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and able to effectively support team development and achieve organisational goals
- Ability to self-motivate, demonstrate innovation and work independently.
- Experience in mentoring, training, or leading teams is highly desired.
