**Role Purpose**
Join a values-based organisation that prioritises integrity and compassion, and is dedicated to providing critical services to the NSW community across multiple sites and assets. With a renewed focus on the Health, Safety, and Wellbeing of their people, we are seeking an experienced Head of Health, Safety & Wellbeing to lead key improvement areas. In this role, you will take ownership of the function and build team capability in a diverse environment that includes front-line community support workers, healthcare professionals, property management, asset management, and general maintenance and construction.

Reporting directly to the GM of HR, this position is crucial in establishing a successful HSW framework and strategy, fostering a positive safety culture throughout the organisation. Your responsibilities will include developing and implementing improvements to the Safety & Wellbeing frameworks, systems, and overall strategy. You will collaborate with existing goals, outline a new long-term strategy, and build a new function to achieve these objectives.

In addition, you will:

- Drive the implementation of the integrated health, safety and wellbeing strategy through a communication plan including strategy launch, refresh of safety systems and creating accessible resources and tools for all.
- Develop effective systems, frameworks, programs and initiatives for the control of workplace risk and continued improvement of health, safety and wellbeing performance beyond compliance.
- Build alignment and confidence among the Senior Executive and Board by employing strong communication skills and producing insightful quality evidence-based reports. These reports will focus on analyzing performance, sharing valuable lessons learned, taking proactive measures, and providing assurance regarding critical risk controls
- Drive improved leader capability at Senior leadership team level and frontline through creating tools and frameworks to assist in managing employee health.
- Develop and implement an enterprise-wide contractor safety framework that is integrated into our overall contractor management framework. This framework will ensure legal compliance, promote due diligence, and provide proactive oversight of contractor safety performance
- Oversee the program for supporting team members in cases of injury or illness, including the management of WorkCover claims and establishing positive relationships with insurers; and Return to Work program that covers all aspects of health and recovery at work

As a natural people leader, you will have the ability to quickly establish credibility and possess the ability to influence colleagues effectively.

Key experience required:

- Relevant tertiary / professional qualifications in Health and Safety, Risk Management, or a related field
- Passion to build a department and cohesive function and proven background in developing and delivering HSW strategy
- Fluency in health and safety legislation around physical and psychosocial safety and wellbeing
- Proven capacity to partner strategically with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
