Principal Workforce Policy Officer

The role
This position is not focused on human resources planning, but on the strategic policy-based environment considering trends and the challenges of providing appropriate and cost-effective health care across a diversified geography.
Your key responsibilities
- Identify, research and analyse health workforce issues, recommend strategies and lead projects in order to enhance health workforce management, supply and reform.
- Provide authoritative advice to senior departmental management and other internal and external stakeholders on a range of diverse, complex and sensitive health workforce issues.
- Develop high quality reports, submissions, plans and consultative documents and other communication tools on a broad range of complex workforce planning, service provision and management issues to meet the needs of diverse stakeholders at all levels of the Department of Health and external to the organisation.
The successful person
**You will have demonstrated**:
- Competence in the identification, development and implementation of workforce planning strategies in a large, complex organisational environment.
- Competence in the development of workforce planning plans, tools and resources in a large, complex service delivery organisation.
- Competence in project management of complex and time-critical projects, including the ability to respond and adapt to changing priorities and competing demands.
- High level interpersonal, problem solving, negotiation, presentation and client relationship management skills, including achievement in cultivating productive working relationships, partnerships and teamwork and negotiate and influence outcomes and effectively represent the interests of the Department in dealing with internal and external stakeholders.
- Capability in the preparation of high quality written communications, briefs, reports and correspondence for key stakeholders.

Clinical Planning and Service Strategy Division (CPSS) is a newly created division responsible for delivering clinical service strategy and planning, workforce strategy and planning and leadership, mental health strategy and planning and precision medicine and research functions to improve health services available to the Queensland community, optimize health gains, reduce inequalities, and maximise the efficiency and effectiveness of the health system. The division collaborates with health system leaders, Hospital and Health Services, clinical networks, key healthcare service providers, research and academic organisations, State and Commonwealth agencies as well as non-government organisations and other divisions.
