Closely affiliated with the University of Sydney and Westmead Hospital, the Institute’s research extends from the laboratory to the patient using the basic tools of molecular and cell biology, genetic epidemiology, imaging technology and clinical research.

Biomedical research in the Institute extends into clinical research programs across a wide range of disciplines which may interface with the many clinical trials in progress at any one time. This “bench to bedside” approach enables greater translation of research from biomedical discovery to the development of new prevention strategies, diagnostics and more effective treatments.

**Description**:
The role of Scientific Operations Administration Assistant reports to the Director of Scientific Operations and is responsible for providing administrative support to the Director of Scientific Operations and broader team of Scientific Platforms as required.

Key areas of responsibility include

Assist in various Scientific Operations administration duties, including but not limited to:

- General administration
- Organise team meetings, events and user group meetings including creation of the flyers and registrations, calendar invites
- Liaise with Human Resources and WIMR reception on the onboarding, offboarding and platform access of equipment users
- Liaise with other WIMR teams and Scientific Platforms Stakeholders when needed o Laboratory management system
- Assist account, training and project request process - Keep all relevant documents and information updated
- Process monthly bioinformatics billing

- Coordinate monthly usage report among facility managers, users and the finance department

- Update the controlled document registry and Scientific Platforms webpage as required
- Keep the document and registry updated for all animal research related documents and the controlled substance approvals
- Support in the preparation of reports, grants and other related documents as required
- Communicate and build strong relationships with the Scientific Platforms team
- Support the team with other tasks and perform other appropriate duties as required by the Director of Scientific Operations
- Demonstrate a genuine commitment to safety by assisting the team to respond to concerns raised, ensuring documentation is up to date, auditing existing documentation and workflows. A continued desire to keep abreast of relevant legislation while cooperating with actions put in place to protect the health and safety of all WIMR stakeholders is required.
