Brisbane, Australia Energy and Public Works Full time

Reporting to the Manager, Disaster Coordination Unit, improving resilience in the areas of disaster and business continuity management across the department. Work across the department, enabling understanding of essential functions and strategies of the Disaster Coordination Unit in the achievement of an all-hazards objective. Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders to build and implement policies, procedures and issues relating to disaster management arrangements and business continuity planning. Coordinate and complete the drafting, writing and design of documents such as departmental plans, policies, arrangements, directives and other supporting documents. Activate and undertake response activities during whole-of-government activation at the State Disaster Coordination Centre. Note: during an emergency event, this may mean being available to work outside of normal business hours at the State Disaster Coordination Centre (Kedron). Preparing a variety of correspondence, including Parliamentary Briefs; Ministerial and Director
- General briefs; and verbally briefing executive leadership, senior management and departmental staff when required. Participate in the development and delivery of training and exercise programs across the department to support EPW's preparedness for a disaster or business disruption. Represent the department on committees and working groups, build and maintain strong linkages with relevant areas across the organisation and government, and ensure interoperability between divisions. Develop and coordinate projects of a substantial nature, including project leadership and management of activities. Conduct research, analysis and review of complex issues that may escalate and/or result in departmental disruptions and implement appropriate action. Advocate and champion, a culture of quality, continuous improvement and innovation to help build the department's capability to better prevent, prepare, respond and recover from emergency events. Develop and maintain networks across Queensland's Disaster Management Arrangements and the department's Business Continuity community.
