Technical Manager

Sugar Australia has an exciting opportunity for a Technical Manager - Packaging; who has strong commercial and technical packaging experience and stakeholder management to join our team reporting to the Procurement Manager.

As the Technical Manager - Packaging you are responsible for;
- Lead and manage the overall development of technical excellence in packaging.
- Review existing packaging and develop new packaging materials used throughout Sugar Australia in line with sustainable packaging principals (SPG's), and our sustainability goals.
- Support packaging knowledge across the ANZ sweeteners business.

Work for an iconic and reputable Australian food manufacturer in a permanent full time role based at our Sugar Australia Head Office in Yarraville.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

- This strategic role, which will help, lead Sugar Australia's transformation into a Sustainable future. Working closely with procurement, marketing, operational and NPD teams, to develop and deliver on a 5-year packaging innovation pipeline. As well as the packaging vendor program working cross functionally with the quality, engineering and supply chain teams
- Project manage packaging trials and implementation of the new strategy across the group.
- Work with capital and maintenance engineers to ensure that equipment delivers desired performance outcomes and meets customer requirements.
- Evaluate different concepts in packaging changes, put forward recommendations and implement the agreed course of action.
- The ability to work cross functionally across multiple sites across our network in ANZ is essential, with extensive experience in the food / FMCG industry driving packaging innovation, working with packaging suppliers, and working knowledge of industry bodies such as APCO and relevant packaging legislation.
- Support the New Product Development Team by reviewing and helping craft innovation submissions and providing input around impact to operations and retailers.
- Evaluate different concepts in packaging changes, put forward recommendations and implement the agreed course of action.

**What we're wanting you to bring to the table**:
Tertiary qualification in Engineering, food science, or a Packaging Technology related discipline.

Advanced technical skills, experience and knowledge of packaging development in the FMCG industry. Minimum of 7 years' experience
