This role is in the DroneShield Sydney headquarters in Pyrmont, Sydney. There are approximately 160 staff based in the 4,000sqm facility today, scheduled to grow to approximately 300 staff by end of 2026. Overseas on the ground presence includes Virginia (USA), Denmark, Germany and Dubai, as well as distributors in over 70 countries globally.

**About the role**

DroneShield is seeking a dynamic and experienced HR Business Partner (HRBP) to establish and lead the Human Resources function from the ground up. As the first HR professional in the organisation, you will be a strategic partner to the leadership team, driving initiatives that align with our business goals and fostering a culture of excellence and engagement. This role requires a hands-on approach, strong business acumen, and the ability to build HR practices that support our rapidly growing company. We are currently 150 people and looking to double the size in the next 18 months.

**Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations**
- Develop and implement a comprehensive HR strategy aligned with the company's mission, vision, and goals.
- Develop and manage onboarding programs to ensure a smooth integration of new hires.
- Implement performance management systems, including setting up KPIs, performance reviews, and career development plans.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations, addressing concerns, and providing guidance to managers and employees.
- Conduct regular market analyses to ensure the company remains competitive in its compensation offerings.
- Create and implement training and development programs that support employee growth and organisational needs.
- Identify leadership development opportunities and succession planning strategies.
- Manage HR administration and employee records.
- Design and implement initiatives to enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention.

**Qualifications, Experience and Skills**
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of HR experience, with at least 2 years in an HRBP or similar role, ideally in a technology or startup environment.
- Proven experience in building HR functions from scratch or leading significant HR transformations.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
