The Metadata and Access Librarian contributes to the description and discoverability of collections and information resources. Operating within a dynamic workplace environment, the role performs a range of metadata creation and maintenance activities for physical and electronic collections, ensuring the integrity and quality of records in the library management system and troubleshooting and resolving access issues with resources.

As part of a small immediate team of Metadata and Access Librarians the role works closely with other members of the wider Metadata and Discovery Team and other internal and external stakeholders to maximise the discoverability of electronic collections and liaises with other Library teams to establish, maintain and troubleshoot access to resources. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are integral to the role, as is attention to detail and the ability to resolve issues.

The position provides high-level customer service and technical support to University users and Library staff.

**As a Metadata and Access Librarian you will**:

- Create and maintain records in the library management system to accurately reflect electronic and print collection and provide electronic access points to digital collections
- Update external knowledge bases and monitor the accuracy of data ingested into the library management system
- Establish, maintain and troubleshoot access to resources
- Generate new ideas and shares those ideas with others in the work area to improve process and practice
- Deliver effective and efficient outcomes and outputs against team and operational work plans
- Recognise the importance of teamwork and of effective communication amongst team members and build rapport within immediate team in ways that are respectful and inclusive of others
- Build productive relationships with a diverse range of existing stakeholders and actively seek to maintain positive relationships

**To be successful, you’ll have**:

- Degree and/or postgraduate qualifications in library and information science conferring eligibility for Associate membership of the Australian Library and Information Association, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or training
- Demonstrated knowledge of integrated library management systems
- Demonstrated knowledge of metadata standards
- Demonstrated experience working with complex databases and/or information resource knowledge bases
- Demonstrated knowledge of electronic resource management
