The Position
Anglicare Victoria operates a number of Emergency Relief Programs across metropolitan and regional centres.
The programs oversee the assessment and administration of clients experiencing personal crisis or financial hardship, and provide immediate assistance in the form of food and petrol vouchers, food parcels, prescription vouchers, information, advocacy & referrals to other support services. Our programs are client facing.
The AV Aid Food Van supports our Emergency Relief sites by delivering essential non-perishable food items to these programs to provide to vulnerable people with dignity.
We are seeking to recruit a group of community minded people who can assist with a range of roles including:
Drive the AV Aid van from Mission House Fitzroy to, and return from, either:
Sydenham (Wednesday)
Sunshine (Thursday)
Craigieburn (Friday)
Assist with the loading and unloading of goods from the van including lifting and carrying within AV OHS policy guidelines
Set up the stall to distribute food items and prepacked food parcels from
Man the stall for the duration of the program and hand out food parcels/items to clients
About you
**To be successful in this role you will need**:
Ongoing availability on days to be determined between Wednesday and Friday, within business hours
Be warm, friendly and empathetic in nature with genuine interest in supporting people in need
Strong communication and listening skills
Hold a current Victorian Driver’s License
**Please Note**: It is mandatory for the successful applicant to hold a Working with Children Check and be prepared to undergo a National Criminal History Check prior to commencement.
