**About the role**

National Parks and Wildlife Service has a unique opportunity for a Ranger to work as part of the team and contribute towards the conservation of the natural environment, flora, fauna and Aboriginal heritage.

Rangers provide effective management of natural, historic and Aboriginal heritage by undertaking, coordinating and supervising projects, environmental assessments, visitor and stakeholder liaison, and field-based activities including bushfire management and law enforcement. They will contribute to ensuring the Departments Environment and Heritage obligations and aims are met through the conservation of the natural and cultural heritage values of parks.

The position is based in the Eurobodalla Area, South Coast Branch. The Area has responsibility for NPWS reserves from Batemans Bay to Bega, and west from Nimmitabel to Braidwood. This includes Eurobodalla National Park (NP), Mimosa Rocks NP, Wadbilliga NP, Monga NP, Deua NP, Barunguba Montague Island Nature Reserve and jointly managed Biamanga NP and Gulaga NP.

**About you**

Your passion for your community and environment, coupled with a strong attention to detail and customer service skills will be key to your success in this role. You will participate in visitor safety management and activities including search and rescue and event management. As a Ranger you will undertake project management, and assist with interagency initiatives; cultural heritage management; ecological restoration; threatened species recovery actions; wildlife management; and weed control and feral animal control to protect and conserve the natural and cultural heritage.

**Essential requirements**
- A degree or equivalent relevant to the field operations of the Agency.
- Current Australian Class C Drivers licence or equivalent and ability to operate four-wheel-drive vehicles.
- Required to obtain certification at the appropriate level prior to undertaking firefighting/incident control duties.
- Willingness to fly in light aircraft and preparedness and ability to be involved in incident management duties including firefighting.
- The role holder must obtain certification at the appropriate level prior to undertaking firefighting/incident control duties._
