**About the role**

Reporting to the Community Respite Program Lead, you will work as an integral part of the respite team to improve the mobility, physical well-being and quality of life of our respite clients.

All activities offered within respite services are planned according to reablement principles and best practice evidence, and are based around the individual strengths of our clients, with a focus on promoting independence and enhancing quality of life.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Undertaking holistic assessments and screening to identify the assessed physical performance needs
- Assessing, designing and delivering group and/or individual based exercise programs to improve strength, balance and physical performance
- Providing a combination of cognitive and physical opportunities for all customers to improve their strength, balance and physical performance
- Delivering early intervention programs that ensure customers at risk of frailty are identified early and supported to bounce back
- Supporting respite staff in delivering safe and appropriate exercise programs and daily activities
- Implementing continuous improvement projects to improve service delivery and access for all customers

**About you**

We are looking for people who will be the difference in the lives of our residents and clients.
- Certificate IV or higher in Fitness or equivalent as well as current registration with Physical Activity Australia, AUSactive, Exercise or Sports Science Australia
- Ability to design, implement and evaluate safe and effective exercise interventions for older people living with dementia and with complex clinical presentations
- Sound communication skills including the ability to teach, coach and motivate clients and other team members
- Ability to monitor and take appropriate action regarding adverse signs and symptoms that may arise during exercise and/or recovery
- Sound interpersonal skills including the ability to foster positive relationships and communicate with clients with reduced cognition and high level needs
- Current and unrestricted Driver's licence
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- A basic knowledge of the requirements of the Aged Care Standards as are applicable to the role
