**ORIMA Research Pty Ltd is an evidence-based, social research consultancy. We are Australia’s largest
provider of research, advisory and data services to the public sector, conducting research for
Australian and State / Territory Government clients on a range of topics including healthcare and
wellbeing, employee engagement, education, environmental assets, policy, disability, sports
programs, communications, First Nations and more.
Our mission is to improve the wellbeing of people by contributing to high-quality, evidence-based
public policy, public administration, service delivery, communications campaigns and management
decisions, through our market and social research, data analytics and advisory services. Our projects
have made a significant contribution to advancing evidence-based public policy across a broad range
of areas.
We are 100% Australian owned and are growing. We have offices in Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney
and Brisbane and employ around 75 permanent staff as well as a national Aboriginal and Torres
Strait Islander Field Force of over 35 casual interviewers.
**ROLE DESCRIPTION
**Research Support staff assist research consultants with tasks such as checking numbers in reports
against their source, ensuring accuracy of numbers in tables, data entry, coding of survey comments
into themes, proof-reading documents, scheduling interviews and making reminder calls for surveys
by phone, and other administrative and support tasks. Suited to individuals with strong attention to
detail, comfort with numbers/data checking, ability to work at a fast pace and to deadlines, and
familiarity with computers.
We are looking to offer opportunities on a permanent part time basis though they may also be
offered on a casual basis. Roles will suit a range of individuals including parents looking to work
around school hours, individuals looking to return to work, mature workers among others.
**Please note**: these positions are office-based in Canberra office located near the airport at
Brindabella Business Park. Remote working is not an option. Shifts are available during business
hours (Monday to Friday).
**KEY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
**Tasks include but are not limited to:
- Number checking
- Data entry
- Coding of open-ended comments
- Proof-reading documents
- Testing survey links

- Clerical support (ad hoc assistance to administrative staff on request)
- Telephone duties - Inbound survey hotlines; making outbound reminder calls
**REQUIREMENTS, QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS**
Residency Status - Must be an Australian citizen or a permanent resident
Qualifications - Tertiary studies advantageous though attention to detail, comfort with
numbers and attitude are most important
Technical Skills - Familiarity with computers and the Microsoft suite, (Excel, Word and
Teams)
- Comfort in working with numbers and percentages (in data tables and
charts)
- Confidence in making phone calls and communicating with people
Soft Skills - Confident communication skills including clear spoken and written English
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including the
confidence to interact with a diverse range of people via phone and in
person
- Strong attention to detail
- A strong commitment to excellence in client service, strong service ethos,
and a hands-on approach to getting things done
- Be able to concentrate for extended periods/hours (e.g. quality checking
data tables)
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Ability to work under pressure in a constructive and helpful manner
- Have a positive mindset and a resilient and ‘can do’ attitude
- Experience within the social research sector would be advantageous but is
not essential.
Mandatory - Proof of up to date COVID-19 vaccinations (e.g. certificate)
