Within our company wide Information Systems & Technology function, we are building an internal software development and delivery team focusing on high value and strategic products for the digital transformation of Rio Tinto. We are building this capability and capacity with the support of a strategic partnership with Endava, one of the world’s leading software engineering companies.

**About the role**
We are seeking a Lead Tester who will have the opportunity to accelerate the innovation and delivery of the different processes and products within Digital Products. Someone eager to have a high impact on the digital transformation journey we are currently on. The Lead Tester will be responsible for managing the test activities and defining the testing strategy for one or more products, ensuring that new and amended code, configurations, packages, or services, together with any interfaces, perform as specified. The Lead Tester will also provide technical leadership to Testers on the Scrum team.
We are looking for an individual who is willing to build professional relationships with key stakeholders within the company, with the ability to understand complex problems and focus on the best solutions according to the business needs. You will be exposed to a variety of challenges, from technical solutions and design to improving service delivery from an end-to-end perspective.
**Responsibilities**
- The Lead Tester will be an integral part of a Scrum Team, taking responsibility for the management of the testing activities within a product and providing technical leadership to testers.
- Is responsible for Design and implementation of the test Automation Framework.
- Oversees the planning of the automation system and acceptance tests and co-ordinates the execution of these plans.
- Takes responsibility for early life-cycle validation and verification.
- Takes responsibility for the production and approval of testing deliverables and achievement of testing milestones during a product lifecycle.
- Co-ordinates all activities and all testers for all testing activities during the Product lifecycle.
- Co-operates with users and senior staff as required to agree the testing strategy to be employed for the Product.
- Maintains awareness of testing alternatives at a level where they can be analysed, and the most effective testing strategy selected and agreed, and advocates for shift left testing.
- Directs and carries out investigations to assess and advise on the practicality of testing process alternatives.
- Ensures that any risks associated with test strategy and the system test plan are clearly documented and described to the users and colleagues.
- Manages all risks associated with the testing and takes preventative action when any risks become unacceptable.
- Provides authoritative advice and guidance to colleagues on any aspect of test planning and execution.
- Monitors quality and performance against agreed criteria to ensure the quality of the outcomes.
- Coaches colleagues in developing target skills and capabilities in line with team and personal goals.
**About you**
- Essential_
- Bachelor’s degree level or holds a relevant professional qualification, I.e. Bachelor of IT, Computer Science, Software Engineering etc.
- Experience in test automation and test framework development (at least 5 years).
- Excellent coding skills in one of the OO languages.
- OOP, SOLID, architectural patterns are the must.
- Expertise in designing and implementing custom testing frameworks.
- Automation testing experience in both frontend and backend (DB, API).
- Expertise in automation frameworks (types, structure, components).
- Expertise in automation reporting tools.
- Ability to understand both technical and business requirements.
- Agile process knowledge and experience, including estimation and planning.
- Knowledge of test metrics and test result analysis tools.
- Strong analytical abilities and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong knowledge in database relational and non-relational.
- Knowledge of version control systems.
- Experience with test management and reporting tools (Eg. Jira).
- Knowledge with Azure DevOps pipelines to set up automated builds and enable CI/CD.
