About the role

We are seeking a Linehaul Allocator to join our team based at Melbourne Airport. The role is responsible for the allocation of our subcontractor resource to meet daily customer demand and will be required from 2:00pm to 10:00pm Monday to Friday. Fixed term role to June 2024.

The role of the Linehaul Allocator is a pivotal one in the team, where planning of daily linehaul movements along with the managing of the resource subcontractor allocation and scheduling of drivers, to ensure the delivery of a safe, reliable, compliant and sustainable service to our customers.

This role requires someone with a demonstrated experience in transport operations, planning or scheduling, who can build strong beneficial relationships across all levels of the business, with an understanding of issues and factors that are relevant to the customer service levels (DIFOT) requirements are met.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory standards & Codes of Practice, Company Policies and procedures.
- Plan and monitor scheduled pickups and deliveries, update customers’ and customers’ personnel promptly of inability to achieve planned requirements.
- Plan and monitor agreed pickups /deliver times to meet customer service demands and enable fleet resource optimisation.
- Utilise cost effective decision making in selecting and allocating subcontractor resources.
- Build effective relationships with subcontractor partners, stakeholders and customers.
- Ensure transportation of Dangerous Goods is carried out in accordance with the Dangerous Goods Code.
- Establish and maintain open communication with other team members and with key collegial stakeholders - operations, planning, control room.

- Experience in linehaul transport highly regarded
- Sound knowledge of the national rail linehaul system, Road transport legislation and permit work
- Customer Relationship Management
- Excellent communication skills - verbal and written abilities
- Excellent Data entry skills - attention to detail
- Negotiation and influencing skills
