**STATEMENT OF DUTIES
**Position Objective **The Agriculture and Horticulture Assistant works directly with Teachers to
provide technical support and student supervision to the Agriculture and
Horticulture Team. This position is appointed by the Principal and is employed
by Diocese of Sale Catholic Education Limited (**DOSCEL**).

**Responsibilities **- Ensuring the cleanliness and housekeeping of are associated with personal
work area
- Keep records of safe handling and use of chemicals and up to date risk

assessments on machines

**Child Safety **- Prepare resources for Learning Programs- Attend classes to support the teacher and students with using resources

and equipment

**STATEMENT OF DUTIES
- Support the teacher to ensure classes operate within a safe learning

environment
- Adhere to College Occupational Health and Safety Standards
- Continue to develop new safe work practises as the program changes or
- includes new facilities, livestock machines, equipment and tools- Assist staff and students through pre-planning, sourcing, preparation of

various materials/supplies/hand tools/power tools for use in practical
activities
- Ensure cleanliness of all tables, chairs, benches, sinks, tools, shedding and

equipment within the Agriculture & Horticulture precinct
- Make sure that budgets are not compromised by over spending on

unnecessary equipment or surplus equipment
- Assist in the maintenance of the Agriculture & Horticultural Precinct,

associated tools and equipment and livestock paddocks
- Assist with the distribution of deliveries and in some instances pick up

deliveries
- In conjunction with the teacher, ordering and purchasing of goods and

materials associated with the curriculum
- Be responsible for ensuring tools and equipment are operated and stored

in a safe manner
- Daily health/welfare checks of all animals within Agriculture - Horticulture

precinct and paddocks
- Ensuring the cleanliness and housekeeping of are associated personal

work area(s)
- Keep records of safe handling and use of chemicals and up to date risk

assessments on tools, equipment and livestock
- Demonstrate duty of care to students in relation to their physical and

mental wellbeing
