**About the role**:
The Principal Data Analyst will provide expert analytical insights into healthcare quality and safety data. They will use their knowledge, technical data expertise and stakeholder engagement skills to support SCV in the delivery of the Safer Together Program.

The Safer Together Program is our four-year statewide initiative that focuses on improving safety and operational excellence across the healthcare system. The vision for the program is to build a safer and more sustainable health system that provides outstanding healthcare for all Victorians.We aim to achieve this through formalising informal networks to proactively address systemic issues and create an environment for cooperation, collaboration, sharing and learning. This will bring together existing improvement programs across the sector and SCV, into a cohesive program with one common goal - that is to build a safer healthcare system that delivers better outcomes for all Victorians.

The Principal Data Analyst will play a central role in supporting the data capability of the Improvement Branch. This will include, but is not limited to, supporting the development of measure specification, administrative data extraction, analysis and data visualization to monitor and track the impact of the Safe Together Program improvement work. They will also provide expert analytics insights to support the identification of strategic future opportunities within the program, Although there are currently no direct reports, in future, the Principal Data Analyst may be responsible for direct line management of senior data analysts.

**Suitable applicants will be able to demonstrate**:

- Lead data analytical reporting and impact measurement of strategic priority programs.
- Develop modelling and data analysis to guide strategy and decision making on the economic return on health investment, aligned with the principles of value-based health and care
- Provide leadership, guidance and authoritative advice to internal and external stakeholders and prepare and present detailed, comprehensive reports, ministerial briefs, cabinet and agency submissions on complex matters.
- Demonstrated evidence of sound analytical and conceptual skills in formulating compliance and evaluation strategies to address specific issues related to the effective provision and implementation of required outcomes.
- Identify emerging issues, risk and trends impacting on the successful achievement of key business objectives and imperatives and provide high quality business intelligence and sound recommendations based on comprehensive research and investigations.
- Highly developed interpersonal and negotiation skills:
- An ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, provide advice on processes and policies, work effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Able to express opinions, information and key points clearly and concisely via effective verbal and written communication
- Manage direct reports of senior data analysts that may report to them in future.
- Ability to work collaboratively with project teams to perform data analyses, data cleaning and regular reporting.
- An understanding of different methodologies, including statistical methodologies, for the analysis, interpretation, presentation and distribution of data and data-related products.
- Experience in extracting, interpreting and analysing large, structured datasets to make inferences about clinical phenomena and system signals.
