The Geological Survey of NSW (GSNSW) (part of NSW Resources) are looking for their next Geoscientist GIS (Geospatial) to join the team in Maitland.
As the Geoscientist GIS (Geospatial) you’ll provide project support and expert knowledge and advice in the governance, management and maintenance of new and legacy NSW geological mapping-related GIS data and information on behalf of GSNSW and NSW Resources.
Using your demonstrated experience in applied GIS software and techniques, as well as your experience in applied geological mapping techniques at the desktop and in the field, you’ll be responsible for:
- Maintaining and updating the NSW Seamless Geology databases and related geological datasets, including the NSW stratigraphic unit databases
- Annual delivery of Seamless Geology data updates and related project outputs
- Staying abreast of the latest NSW geoscientific data and knowledge to inform data quality
We’re looking for someone who has:
- Well-developed knowledge of NSW geology, particularly regarding geological mapping
- Experience in geoscience data capture, data management and database administration.
- High-level skills with the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel.
- A current driver’s licence and the ability to carry out field work in remote areas if required.
A university qualification in Geology (or equivalent experience) is also an essential requirement of the role.
