The Centre for Culture Ethnicity and Health is a unique program in Australia that looks at the intersection of culture, language and health beliefs to understand the barriers and opportunities for service provision for people from refugee and migrant backgrounds.
As the Manager of CEH, you will lead an incredibly diverse and knowledgeable team of people with a strong commitment to equity and social justice. With areas of work ranging from leading thinking about cultural competence, health literacy and language services to community education about viral hepatitis and operation of Australia’s biggest online library of translated health and wellbeing resources - each day brings a different challenge.
CEH is well positioned and ready for significant growth and the new Manager will lead this through their strategic focus on new opportunities as well as maintaining the positive reputation of CEH with its existing stakeholders.
**Manager CEH** **(Fulltime permanent)
The **Manager CEH** will provide effective leadership and operational management to Coordinators and staff of CEH in line with NRCH values and strategic direction.
The Manager CEH will have a strong, strategic external focus that seeks to extend the work, reach and funding of CEH. The role will require consideration of new audiences for existing CEH products as well as development of new products. Increasing our own revenue streams and reducing our reliance on state government funding will be an aim of the position.
Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Along with Executive and CEH Coordinators, identify and engage new and expanded audiences for CEH products.
- Establish, manage and evaluate CEH projects, including specific health promotion plans, state-wide blood borne virus/sexually transmitted infection BBV/ expertise for multicultural communities, capacity building for agencies in the areas of cultural competence, health literacy, language services and in the future, consumer participation.
- Provide leadership and support to the CEH Coordinators and their teams to meet identified deliverables.
- Work collaboratively to ensure relationships with key stakeholders supports NRCH/CEH strategies.
**Key Selection Criteria**
**Essential qualifications, attributes and skills include, but are not limited to**:
- Tertiary qualification in health promotion, social sciences, or other relevant area.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a management position of a team or similar service program.
- Thorough working knowledge of the health and community care system in Victoria; understanding of, and commitment to, Community Health Principles.
- Significant experience in public policy development and a sound understanding of current policy directions in the field of health & wellbeing.
