**About the role**:
The Medical Lead is responsible for professional and clinical leadership of the medical team providing health care to custodial patients at Parklea Correctional Centre. The role is responsible for clinical policy, practice and governance whilst providing clinical care and operational leadership to the medical team. The position is part of the medical leadership team and will contribute to the overall management and leadership of correctional health services.

- Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia
- Current unconditional registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Authority (AHPRA), and Fellowship with ACEM or, RACGP or the RACP
- Demonstrated medical management ability in clinical service planning and the provision of a patient focused, comprehensive, high quality and cost effective clinical service with knowledge and commitment to the implementation of best practice and clinical service innovation
- Demonstrated management experience in health service including proven budget analysis and meeting performance and activity targets within a constrained budgetary environment
- Demonstrated personal qualities of clinical leadership, including excellent engagement, communication and negotiation skills, motivation, initiative, time management and team building
- Demonstrated ability to provide high quality compassionate medical care as evidenced by recent practice experience with skills and knowledge in mental health, aboriginal health, alcohol and drug, infectious disease and working congenially and collaboratively as both a leader and member of a multidisciplinary team, and as a provider of services that engender high levels of patient satisfaction and experience
- Demonstrated ability to innovate, implement and improve patient safety, patient flow, continuum of care and waiting times for treatment
