Gis Specialist

Pay Rate: $100 per hour + super
- Contract: 12 months
- Location: Parramatta + WFH

Our government client is seeking to engage an experienced GIS Specialist for a 12 month contract based in Parramatta with hybrid working arrangement.

**About the Role**
The GIS Specialist connects enterprise datasets, ensuring that data is fit for purpose, in order to discover insights and provide key information that is used in decision making about products and services across the asset value chain.

**Technical Accountabilities**
- Application of analytical tools and algorithms to asset data
- Validation of business assumptions through what if analysis of asset and other data sets
- Spatial data acquisition, editing and management
- Spatial modelling and analysis including preparation of graphical and visualisation outputs
- Drive analyses and provide practical recommendations to influence LCS product and service strategy
- Interpret data, analyse results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports
- Identify, analyse, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
- Explore data and discover patterns, meaningful relationships, anomalies and trends

**Skills, Experience & Qualifications**
- A degree qualification with 3+ years’ experience or proven equivalent industry experience.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organise, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
- Adept at BI queries, report writing and presenting findings
- Strong project management skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact with all levels of management and external industry stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages and Business Intelligence tools, preferably SAP Business Objects
- Experience with data that is used in asset management in water utility context
- Experience in BI Analytics and Data warehouse methodologies
- Experience in presenting data and information in visual forms to enable the business (e.g. spatially, dashboards, tables and graphs)
- Intermediate to advanced skills in: MS Excel (knowledge of pivot tables, functions such as vlookup etc.); MS Access; SQL experience.
- Experience with spatial data and Geographical Information System (GIS) technology (MapInfo, ArcGIS Explorer etc.) to plan and manage assets and operations.
