**Team Manager - Aboriginal Liaison Officer**
- YJW4 role earning $97,568- $ 110,714 per year plus super
- Manage a team of Aboriginal Liaison Officers across three Youth Justice precincts
- Supervise culturally appropriate support for Aboriginal young people in custody

Lead a team of Aboriginal Liaison Officers to support Aboriginal young people in custody and ensure culturally appropriate programs are delivered that can contribute towards successful rehabilitation.

Youth Justice Custodial Services aim to engage children and young people in change by addressing their offending behaviour and equipping them with the skills required for positive community participation. Victoria has three custodial precincts that cater to their needs by offering innovative services aimed at reducing reoffending: Parkville Youth Justice Centre, Malmsbury Youth Justice Centre, and Cherry Creek Youth Justice Facility.

**The opportunity**:
You will be responsible for mentoring, structured learning, professional development, coaching and performance management for Aboriginal Liaison Officers (ALOs) across all three Youth Justice Centres in Victoria, so that they can deliver culturally appropriate individualised plans and specific support to Aboriginal children and young people, their families and their community.

This will involve identifying training needs to develop staff capability and the induction of new ALO staff, as well as reviewing team performance to ensure service delivery expectations are met.

You will also assist in projects relating to Wirkara Kulpa Aboriginal Youth Justice Strategy for Aboriginal young people in a custodial setting, enhancing Aboriginal program delivery by embedding a cultural lens to specific offending behaviour intervention programs and developing positive cultural identity.In addition, you will identify risks that may contribute to re-offending and work towards minimising and managing these risks by providing high level advice and support to the Manager, Aboriginal Youth Justice Operations and other stakeholders.

**To be successful in this role**, you will understand the Aboriginal community, society and culture and the issues impacting on them. You will also have the ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with members of the Aboriginal community.

As Team Manager you will demonstrate a sound knowledge of evidence-based interventions for young Aboriginal children and young people, and will provide tailored assistance that may include mentoring, motivating, advocacy and skills development.
