About us
The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government. We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses. We are doing this by connecting and digitising our systems and platforms across state and local government as well as streamlining our corporate and procurement services.
About the role
The Media Adviser provides media and issues management support and advice to the department's business units, senior executives and ministerial offices, with a focus on the Consumer Affairs Victoria portfolio.
The role helps to build and protect the reputation of the department by helping to showcase the department's work through media releases, media opportunities and events. It also helps to identify emerging issues through horizon scanning and undertaking media liaison work.
About you
To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate:
- Experience in undertaking day-to-day media liaison work including researching and drafting responses to media requests, drafting media releases and managing proactive media opportunities and events.
- Experience undertaking horizon scanning and media analysis on topics relevant to the department.
- Liaising with key stakeholders to identify and manage potential media risks and issues early including developing mitigation strategies.
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with ministerial offices, senior executives, department staff, media and other stakeholders.
