**The Opportunity**

We have an opportunity for a Media Manager to be part of our Industry, Strategy and Partnerships Division within the Department of Primary Industries and Regions.

The Media Manager provides leadership and direction to the Media unit in the Communication and Digital Services Branch. This Branch operates in a dynamic, fast-paced environment to deliver best-practice and innovative communication and digital services across the Department of Primary Industries and Regions.

This role is responsible for the planning, development and implementation of effective media strategies that increase awareness about the work of the department and amplifies across government and public information channels. This includes proactive planning of media announcements with business units, engagement with media outlets and the Minister’s Office, development of high-quality media releases, articles and talking points, speeches and providing expert advice on media issues. In addition, the Media Manager contributes to the oversight of PIRSAs social media platforms and coordinates content, monitoring and moderation in collaboration with all Communications Branch streams. Responsible for identifying and mitigating risks as well as leveraging opportunities, the role is a central liaison point with ministerial advisers and leaders across the agency.

The role works with a large degree of autonomy in respect to setting work priorities and managing workload across both traditional and social media mediums.

The nature of the position means the Media Manager requires extensive knowledge, skills and experience in media management, preferably in a government context, strong management skills, outstanding relationship management and teamwork capabilities. An ability to quickly comprehend complex issues and translate into clear, concise and easy to understand media content is essential to success in the role.

**Requirements**:
