We have an opportunity for a Data Administrator to be part of our Biosecurity Division within the Department of Primary Industries and Regions.

The primary purpose of the role is the delivery of specialist technical systems administration for PIRSA’s Primary Industries Management System (PIIMS) database to meet the needs of the Registrations and Renewals Unit, Animal Biosecurity Branch and the Apiaries and Rural Chemicals Units. The role will also be required to configure and maintain PIIMS and conduct complex system enhancements, testing, configuration, and issue resolution.

The role also constructs and maintains summary reports of PIIMS data and provides when requested, Geographic Information System (GIS) maps to these business units and when authorised, to other PIRSA Divisions and external agencies. Support is provided to the Surveillance and Emergency Response System (SERS) Administrator for incidents and exercises involving animal health and when required, the Veterinary Diagnostic Service Manager regarding the Laboratory Invoicing system.

The role contributes to delivering Biosecurity’s objective of minimising the risk of priority diseases, pests, and contaminants by providing effective management, analysis and summaries of livestock registration and animal biosecurity data.

**What you’ll be working on**:

- Configure and maintain PIIMS for relevant business units. Identify bugs and enhancements and perform user acceptance testing of solutions.
- Monitor the upload of test submissions and their results into PIIMS and rectify data anomalies.
- Configure and maintain the Laboratory Rules Engine which determines responsible and notified officers for test submissions electronically provided by the contracted supplier of veterinary diagnostic services.
- Construct and maintain summary reports of PIIMS data using Power BI and Crystal Reports.
- Provide Geographic Information System (GIS) maps as requested.
- Provide support to the Surveillance and Emergency Response System (SERS) Administrator for incidents and exercises involving animal health.
- Provide support for the Microsoft Access Laboratory Invoicing system as required.

**About you**:

Ideally you will:

- Have experience as a database administrator.
- Have a tertiary qualification in Information Technology which includes coding.
- Be familiar with SQL, Power BI, DAX, Crystal Reports, Sharepoint and Microsoft Access.
- Be familiar with veterinary diagnostic tests for livestock.
- Have demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and maintain close working relationships with staff at all levels.
- Be able to work largely independently and be committed to self-learning to improve your technical skills.

- Successful applicant will be required to satisfactorily complete a National Police Check (NPC) prior to being made an offer of employment.
- Australian residency or current works permit is required (responsibility of applicant to provide evidence of a current work permit).
- Desirable: Tertiary qualification in Information Technology which includes coding
