Black Star Pastry are the makers of the iconic and insta-famous Strawberry Watermelon Cake. With stores in Sydney and Melbourne, and with a global cult following, we are on a mission to celebrate friendship and sweeten moments shared when people come together over cake.

You will be our community voice, engaging with fans across all social platforms and turning them into friends. Your video creation and editing skills are part of your signature, as is your ability to deliver varied content fit for purpose (feed, stories, reels, etc).

You will play a pivotal role planning, creating, and executing engaging content across TikTok (to be launched), Instagram and Facebook. Working closely with brand, this position will develop the brand’s content in response to the annual marketing plan, owning the content execution across all digital touchpoints.

You are creative, innovative and highly collaborative with an exceptional eye for producing engaging content. You are an expert at knowing what it takes to create best-in-class ‘social first’ content coupled with compelling storytelling.

With a focus on producing dynamic, mobile first video content, this role will collaborate with external suppliers to compliment the feed, owning the creative direction, conceptualising photoshoots and leaning in to retouch where required.

With an aim to increase brand and product awareness, alongside the Marketing Manager, this role is accountable growing and engaging our community, which in turn should drive consumer awareness and generate sales conversions (instore and online).

You will also be confident to create instore content and signage as required using the Adobe suite.

Finally, you’ll share your successes with regular reporting on engagement, conversion, brand growth and sentiment, and insights around product, trends and opportunities.

The key accountabilities:

- Take ownership of Black Star Pastry’s content creation, working with the Marketing Manager, scheduling posts and moderating the community
- With a passion for culinary mastery, be able to create and edit your own video and still content
- Ensure content is developed to support all priority social channels and formats (feed, stories, reels etc.)
- Ensure content engages, is rich in storytelling, and supports key business objectives as demonstrated by platform KPIs
- Identify collaboration opportunities with other content creators - both video and stills to support major campaigns and manage all associated shoots to supplement your own content creations (including creative direction and briefing requirements for photography and video shoots across, timelines, ensuring clear communication across the relevant teams for shoot days)
- Contribute to social copywriting, producing engaging captions and other written content across social media
- Manage community engagement across owned social channels, actively working towards growing social media presence, follower numbers and engagement
- Create content for instore, including signage and other basic graphic design tasks as required
- Implement reporting across content, audience, social listening tools and competitors, and strategically update plans based on key learnings

**What will make you a star**
- 3+ years’ experience in social media content creation or similar
- Track record of delivering engaging content across both Instagram and TikTok, identifying trends and opportunities for the brand to shine
- Have a passion for all things social and are at the cutting edge of social media trends and best practices
- Ability to create engaging video, graphic, photo and written content, from concept to delivery
- Be a strong, fun storyteller with a passion for the brand, the cakes, the characters
- Combine creativity, practical nous and marketing prowess to turn ideas into actions and question marks into opportunities
- Have a keen eye for design and passion for the brand and all that it stands for
- Have a creative and collaborative mindset and a genuine hunger to improve push the business (and yourself) forward
- Have excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
