What’s the job?

Reporting to the Director, Public Health Information Development Unit (PHIDU) the Research Fellow will play a key role in the further development of the Social Health Atlas of Australia, to maintain its relevance to a wide range of users. As part of a small team, this will also involve the analysis of data for online publication and presentation in the Atlas.

The Research Fellow will work with mínimal supervision, be self-directed and use initiative in carrying out the development and update of the Atlas and of other projects. The role may also involve the management of staff.

Day-to-day accountabilities:
- Manage staff as required- Contribute to the development of the Social Health Atlas, including through review of relevant publications and reports- Execute high quality data compilation, presentation and analysis- Present PHIDU products to external stakeholders and others in a range of formats (written, on line and oral), as required- Undertake special projects, as required

Who you are- Knowledge and understanding of the social determinants of health inequality- A tertiary qualification in public health or related fields and extensive relevant experience- High-level technical knowledge of and experience using the Microsoft suite of products (e.g., MS Word, MS Excel)- Highly developed analytical and conceptual skills, including the capacity to work independently- Well-developed communication skills, including in written and oral presentation- Strong time management and administrative skills, and the ability to collaborate in a small team environment- Knowledge of and experience using/ working with SPSS, ArcMap, Tableau, Power BI, JSON, Joomla (or other web-content editors)
