We are looking for an Environmental Planner to join our Environment Team within the Business Services & Assurance Division.

- Base salary** **of up to $125,463 plus 11.5% Superannuation

***The Opportunity**

As the Environmental Planner you will be responsible for delivering key elements of Hunter Water’s Environmental Management System including provision of environmental planning and technical support, coordination of environmental improvement projects and environmental reporting.

**What you'll do**:

- Technical and project management support related to specific environmental issues such as environmental impact assessment, biodiversity, waste, heritage and land contamination.
- Report and monitor environmental performance and monitor the implementation of environmental policies, procedures and legislative requirements.
- Project management of EMS improvement projects. This may require business case development, preparation of briefs, consultancy management, budget monitoring, monthly reporting and time management.
- Participate in the response to and resolution of environmental incidents and associated investigations and by providing technical support to operational areas.
- Provide environmental support for field staff and operational teams.
- Review any environmental related reports and take appropriate actions including carrying out workplace inspections and audits as required.
- Assist with environmental training and awareness building as required.

**What you'll need to be successful**:
**Essential Criteria**:

- Tertiary qualifications in an Engineering or Science discipline or equivalent suitable professional qualifications
- Demonstrated work experience in the development and implementation of environmental policies and strategies
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to influence others
- Proven ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders across multi-disciplinary work teams and environments
- Well-developed analytical and innovation skills with the ability to deliver change and business improvements
- Proven commitment to continuous personal development

***Desirable Criteria**:

- Experience in undertaking environmental inspections conducting investigations into environmental incidents
- Experience in environmental impact assessment and environmental approvals related to water and wastewater projects
- Working knowledge of environmental legislation that is applicable to water utility activities and operations Construction White Card
